Conflict minerals refer to Tin (Sn), Tantalum (Ta), Tungsten (W), and Gold (Au) from mining areas in the Democratic Republic of the Congo or conflict zones in neighboring countries. As the conflict zone is controlled by non-governmental armed groups, illegal mining is carried out and human rights violations are caused.

Section 1502 of the Financial Reform Act of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Law, published in the United States, regulates the source of conflict minerals in products.
